Haunt Engine
A game engine built from scratch in modern C++ and Vulkan, learning real-time rendering and engine architecture from first principles.
Overview
Haunt Engine is a from-scratch game engine written in modern C++ with Vulkan as the graphics backend.
The goal is to understand real-time rendering and engine architecture by building the stack myself — windowing, device setup, rendering, and the systems that sit on top — rather than relying on a higher-level framework.
Technology
- Language: C++
- Graphics API: Vulkan
- Build: CMake
Goals
- Set up a Vulkan rendering backend from first principles
- Build core engine systems for windowing, input, and the main loop
- Explore scene management and asset loading
- Grow toward a small, usable foundation for personal games and experiments
Development
Early stages. The repository is up and work is underway.
I’ll document architecture decisions and rendering progress as the engine takes shape.
